Individual Counselling Service in Newark
Counselling and Psychotherapy is known as the ‘talking cure’ and it is an opportunity for you to talk through any concerns you may have with someone outside of your own situation. It offers a ‘safe space’ for you to talk through your thoughts, feelings and experiences in order to help you explore and manage particular aspects of your life whilst also helping you to grow more fully as a person.
A person’s mood will change as a result of life events. At times of major change or stress your mood can dip or you can become anxious. It helps talking to people around you that you can trust but if you feel your problems are more serious and are now interfering with your day-to day functioning, then I might be able to help you.
Counselling often requires you to discuss upsetting emotions and painful memories and it is understanding that bringing up these thoughts can feel difficult to start with.
In your first session I will ask you some questions in order to gain an understanding of what’s worrying you and the way your thought processes work. All of the information in our first meeting will be used to help you in future sessions.
Some questions I may ask are:
- Why are you seeking counselling?
- What’s your current situation?
- What is your personal history?
- What symptoms are you experiencing?
Client Voices
“I thank you for your part in my journey. I know you think it’s doing your job but it means so much more than that. Thank you again for taking the time to help me.”
“Thank you for your time and just for listening. Even though I’ve not been a ‘regular’ just knowing you’re there has been a help. I have taken on board things you have said and it’s helped a lot.”
“Thank you for being there for me and always doing everything to help me through difficult times. I just want to tell you how much I appreciate it. I don’t know where I would be without it.”
